Bank holidays in Andhra Pradesh are determined under the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881. The dates are chosen by the Ministry of Finance, The Director of the Government of India in the Ministry of Personnel and the Personnel Manager of the Reserve Bank of India. The announcement is issued in September of each year and provided to governmental leaders, departments and financial institutions throughout the state.
Andhra Pradesh also specifies in the notification that all bank holidays are in addition to Sundays which are also considered holidays in the state. Any changes to the bank holidays released in September are announced in both electronic and print media. The notification is signed by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. On these dates, businesses and governmental agencies may close in order to allow their employees to spend time with family and friends in celebration of the holiday.
